July 22-28, 2007 - TREMEZZO - Lake Como (Italy)

After the last three successful editions Keith Carter, worldwide leading Fine-Art photographer and educator and Mauro Fiorese, italian author, teacher and curator, will teach the fourth edition of the VISUAL POETRY – Photography Workshop.

The workshop, supported by the Patronage of 'Comune di Tremezzo' and 'Unione dei Comuni della Tremezzina', is designed for professional photographers or skilled amateurs who want to explore different narrative, aesthetic and emotional aspects of photography.
Surrounded by gorgeous nature and lovely villages such as Bellagio, Tremezzo and Varenna, students will work for six days on personal growing and enhancing their own photographic approach, trying to broaden the way they think about photography. The workshop will be focused on emphasizing simplicity, the use of natural light, practical demonstrations, field trips, individual portfolio reviews, and discussions on the work of both historically significant and little-known photographers. Participants, guided by the two teachers, will work to discover and strengthen their personal vision also learning to balance various aspects of everyday complexity.



Class will be taken in both Italian and English.
Registrations are limited to a number of 14 participants.

At the end of the workshop every partecipant will receive a certificate of completion.
This workshop is open to both professional and no professional photographers.
Participants are invited to bring either film-based or digital cameras for daily assignments.
Everyone is also encouraged to bring a sense of humour and a sense of purpose.
Registrations are limited to a minimum of 8 untill a maximum of 14 participants.

The Tremezzo area offer different solutions for accomodations: Hotel of different categories are easy to reach and only few minutes away from the workshop Meeting Point.

KEITH CARTER
Born in Madison, Wisconsin.
Called a 'Poet of the Ordinary' by the Los Angeles Times, Keith Carter's haunting, enigmatic photographs have been shown in over one hundred solo exhibitions in thirteen countries. Nine books of his work have been published including a mid-career survey, Keith Carter Photographs/Twenty-Five Years.
He has appeared on the national television program, CBS Sunday Morning, and is the recipient of two National Endowment For The Arts regional survey grants and the Lange-Taylor Prize from the Center For Documentary Studies at Duke University. His work is included in numerous private and public collections including the Art Institute of Chicago, The Smithsonian American Art Museum, The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, The J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles, The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, The George Eastman House.
Keith Carter holds the endowed Walles Chair of Art at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas where he was awarded with the highest teaching honors, the University Professor Award and Distinguished Faculty Lecturer Prize.

MAURO FIORESE
Born in Verona, Italy.
Talented contemporary italian photographer and educator, his images have been published in many books, including Twospirits with Keith Carter and the most recent Aula Dei and shown in several exhibitions in Europe, Japan, Canada and U.S. In the Year 2004 he has been mentioned among 'the most contemporary relevant italian authors' by the national business newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore. He hold the Chair of History and Language of Photography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Verona, Italy where he also teach at the University. His body of work published in the book corpolibero, a long-term photographic inquiry on the world of handicap, was included in the TOP 100 World Photographers' list of the 1997 Golden Light Award. His photographs have been auctioned by Sotheby's and are part of private and permanent collection includind the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, Texas, the International Centre of Photography Scavi Scaligeri in Verona, Italy, the Bibliotèque National de France in Paris, France and the W.Hunt–Dancing Bear collection in New York, U.S. In the year 2006 was invited as a Portfolio Reviewer at the biannual Houston Fotofest.
